Middle Class Family

I love being a middle class, because I learnt a lot about life.

Value of being a middle-class is amazing.

I was born in a middle class family with middle class values in India. And I know and relate to millions of people around the world — how it feels to be a middle class. Most of the times-

  • You share your clothes with your siblings.
  • You share your toys and school uniforms with your younger siblings.
  • You understand the value of money and food as sometimes you see your parents struggle putting food on the table.
  • You understand and get the true love of your parents.
  • You develop a strong bond with your siblings.
  • You understand the power of care and share.
  • You understand how to face hardships constructively.
  • You understand the value of big and small things in life. Like not having a television at home (watching favorite serials/movies at neighbors home).
  • You understand the true meaning of joy as most of the times life is dead serious.
  • You understand the true meaning of friendship .
  • You understand the true meaning of right and wrong ( because at some point in life you see on what values your parents chose a path which is still full of hardship and struggle and why they rejected the lucrative offers- the answer lies on their values of upbringing).
  • You understand the meaning of character(but this later in life).
Savings mentality in a Middle Class Family

Today, we are facing a pandemic and due to it huge economic losses and job losses. In fact, a study done in USA shows that 90–95% working class population in USA lives from paycheck to paycheck. They have immersed themselves into the habit of consumerism to such an extent, that they don’t have enough savings to go without salary for a month. And this is the reason, that people there are demonstrating against lockdowns and taking onto streets. What are they doing- aren’t they endangering lives of their loved ones including themselves. Is it not good to keep some money aside — in an account or investing it intelligently. If they would have learnt this habit of saving from their elders while growing up, they would have done well today. They would have a peace of mind and confidence to face hardships in life with a positive mental attitude. But what people are actually doing is suicides, mass-killings or God knows what ?

So, being a middle class is nothing but a blessing in disguise. Now, today when you look back in life, does all these middle class hardships bring a smile on your face or you just hate it. What I know from my experience and the experience of people with whom I had the chance to spend time with (definitely they belonged to middle class as well :) ), we always cherish the memories. Till today, we are there to share our joys and sorrows. We are there to help each other and we are there to do anything and everything, so that we all can grow and succeed in life.

Today, I live in Germany and have a good life. But one thing that I do want to pass onto my kids are the values of being a middle-class. These values are incredible and help an individual to live a fulfilling life with good relationships , because at last it is all about relationships.

Note: Please don’t misunderstand this article as being someone against rich or entrepreneurship. It is just the values that I am sharing that one gets by having less in life and also to have the ability to compromise — because trust me, no one gets everything in life whenever they want-sometimes it comes sooner and sometimes later. The idea is to enjoy life and live it to the fullest, because only then we will be able to fulfil all our heart desires.
