Guys, I usually write about technical topics. But today, something else is on my mind. I am a regular follower of self-help books and I try to imbibe within me whatever new I learn from these books.

Recently, I was learning about Attitude — that can make a major difference in our future. But can we change our Attitude with the help of our language is something that I started to think about. As I deep-dived by taking out few minutes in complete isolation — I found that what happens to me when I use constructive language to communicate with myself or anyone.

Constructive/Positive Self-talk with myself
I noticed that in the beginning I am scared and doubtful whenever I talk with myself. But as I continue, I experience a change in my Attitude, thinking and actions.

A few simple examples in my life where I used it are highlighted below :
Eg1 :
- Can I get up at 5 AM and learn swimming.
Response
1st Week — Definite NO (with so many reasons — work, travel, family etc.).
2nd Week — NO (with few of the reasons omitted).
3rd Week — NO ( But questions like — Why I want to do it started coming in my mind).
4th Week — Maybe ( But How).
5th Week — Enrolled in swimming classes.

six months later, I can swim.

Eg2 : Can I learn martial arts.
Response
1st Week — NO ( But questions like — Why I want to do it started coming in my mind).
2nd Week — Maybe ( But How).
3rd Week — Enrolled in Martial Arts classes.

Note here, the initial reasons of work, travel and family didn’t come in my mind as I have already proved to myself that things can be done , if I seriously pursue them.

Eg3 : Can I build an app & then a business around it

Response
1st Week — Yes I can( But, An App related to what).
3rd Week — Started working on it.

With these exercises, I have learnt that I can achieve much more in life. The initial feelings of doubt and scariness — just no longer exist. Positive language has changed my life and the life of my friends whom I love a lot.

Friends — Can you share examples from your life.
